Details of the Incident
According to the Canyon Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 5, at the intersection of southbound U.S. Highway 87 and the eastbound U.S. Highway 60 exit ramp in Canyon, Texas, south of Amarillo. Jacob Saucedo, 23, of El Paso, was driving a white 2023 Nissan SUV when the vehicle struck a concrete highway median. Three passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Victims and Charges
All four occupants, including a 9-month-old child and a 21-year-old pregnant woman, were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities confirmed that the pregnant passenger sustained injuries severe enough to result in the loss of her pregnancy. Following the investigation, Saucedo was charged with three counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle and booked into the Randall County Sheriff’s Office jail. Jail records indicate his bond was set at $45,000.
