Details of the Incident
According to the El Paso Police Department, a call for a crash involving a pedestrian came in just before 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, at I-10 East and Airway Boulevard in East-Central El Paso. Officers and the Special Traffic Investigations Unit responded and determined through preliminary investigation that the victim had pulled over onto the shoulder to change a flat tire. A pickup truck traveling on I-10 struck the man and then exited onto the Airway Boulevard off-ramp and left the scene.
Victim Condition and Suspect Description
The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. His identity has not been released. El Paso Police are looking for a 2010 to 2015 silver or gray Chevrolet pickup truck with a quad cab. Surveillance footage from TxDOT cameras in the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
