Details of the Incident

According to the El Paso Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9:35 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, on southbound Loop 375 near Bob Hope Drive in East El Paso. Three vehicles were involved: a pickup truck carrying the two victims, an SUV driven by a 20-year-old man, and a car driven by a 31-year-old man. Investigators determined the pickup was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles when it cut across all lanes and sideswiped the SUV. The pickup continued and rear-ended the car, then spun out of control and crashed into the center barrier before striking a concrete pole.

Victims Identified

The victims were identified as Isaac Ibarra, 24, and Fabian Alexander Alonzo, 24, both occupants of the pickup truck. Both men died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The drivers of the SUV and the car were not reported to have life-threatening injuries. All southbound lanes on Loop 375 from Pellicano Drive to Rojas Drive were closed for several hours before reopening early Wednesday morning. According to police statistics, these deaths represent the 29th and 30th traffic fatalities in El Paso in 2026, compared to 34 at the same point in 2025.
