Vinton, Train Collision in Texas

At the Ruhmann Law Firm, our truck accident attorneys in El Paso know that there is no shortage of 18-wheeler collisions on our Texas roadways. What is becoming increasingly common, however, are collisions between trains and big rigs throughout the state.

Most recently, on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, a BNSF Railway freight train struck a semi-truck in Vinton, damaging the cab of the big rig and turning it on its side at approximately 3pm local time.

As in most of these cases, the train’s conductor and crew were not physically hurt, but the truck driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No word on how other motorists were affected by the collision yet.

If you were injured during this or another semi-truck or train accident in Texas, contact our El Paso personal injury lawyers today for a free case assessment, so you can get the support you need to hold the responsible party liable for your full financial recovery.

How Often Do Semi-Truck & Train Collisions Occur in Texas?

Train and vehicle collisions – including those that involve semi-trucks – happen more often than anyone would like in Texas.

In 2021 alone, there have been several accidents involving trains and 18-wheelers, including:

  • February 2021: A freight train carrying coal and gasoline collided with a tractor-trailer that ran a railroad crossing Cameron, Texas setting off a fiery explosion.
  • May 2021: A semi-truck with a load of water bottles was split in half by a train in Richmond, Texas.
  • June 2021: The train collided with the semi-truck after it got stuck on the railroad tracks in Moody, Texas.
  • July 2021: A train collided with a semi-truck in Ada, Texas, where the initial impact caused the truck to hit another car and that car hit another vehicle.

The size, weight, and force of both the train and the semi-trucks in these collisions can cause catastrophic injuries and fatalities to other motorists who are sharing the roadways with the 18-wheelers. When these crashes occur, the injured parties should not have to pay for their damages out of pocket. Our experienced truck accident attorneys El Paso will take the lead in your case to determine which party – or combined parties – is at fault for your injuries, so together we can pursue their insurance coverage for your full financial recovery.
